If you are an artist working in the UK and you paint on canvas, then no doubt you try and find the best priced canvases at the best quality like I do. My preferred canvases are Winsor & Newton with Daler Rowney coming a close second. I find the Winsor & Newton box canvases are great to work with and the paint goes on well without any kind of what I would call ‘oiling’ of the surface, stopping the paint adhering properly which you can get with inferior canvases.
I do mainly paint on ready stretched box canvas although I will sometimes stretch my own if I have old frames to use. I have looked around many places for the best prices for canvases and there are two places that I find the cheapest – one is The Range – a highstreet store that is in many towns – and the other is Discount Art – an online retailer. Where you can sometimes get better prices for larger canvases in The Range (although not by much), I usually buy all of my canvases at Discount Art, unless I want a one off quick purchase (as I have The Range a 5 minute walk away).
The Discount Art canvases can be bought in bulk (4 to 10 canvases in a pack depending on size), as well as in singles, at very cheap prices and their delivery is very quick (usually within 2 days) and free if you spend over £50.
So if you are looking for cheap canvases then definitely give them a try – check out the link below for more info.
